Folashade Adeloye
A brief Profile
Folashade Adeloye is a dual qualified common law solicitor with extensive experience and certification in wealth management, compliance & governance, and investment banking. She has worked in private sector asset management and international capital markets for over twenty years and developed expertise in wealth transfer as it relates to gifting, estate planning, business succession planning, future family security, governance, and charitable giving. Over the years, Fola has rendered wealth management and succession planning advice to HNI and affluent families across several jurisdictions, displaying a deep understanding of estates, trusts, tax laws, gifting techniques, trans-generational family wealth and business governance.
Fola started her career as a corporate lawyer at Aina Blankson LP (ABLP) where she rose to lead the corporate commercial and corporate services divisions of the Firm in transactions ranging from mergers
& acquisitions, debt & equity financing to new business registration, estates, and corporate secretarial services. She later joined Nigeria’s largest non-bank asset management group, Asset & Resource Management Holding Company (ARM) as an in-house Counsel and Trust officer. At ARM, she was legal counsel on many business combinations and financing transactions, origination and constitution of private equity funds, legal advisory on real estate development projects and was the Group’s Corporate Secretary.
Working with ARM’s Trust & Estate planning business, Fola took on the helms of the subsidiary, ARM Trustees Limited. During this period, she managed ARM Trustees’ book of business and operations, was responsible for driving strategy and profitability and ensuring employee engagement.
ARM Trustees’ close alignment with ARM Group’s wealth and investment management business led to achievement of 100% growth target in client base and AUM. Over a six-year period, Fola and a team of experienced Private Wealth and Trust Advisors propelled ARM Group’s trust business’ appointment on high profile debt market transactions cumulatively valued at circa U$10bn, thus driving the business to profitability and achieving recognition as a strong player in the corporate and private trust industry in Sub- Saharan Africa. More recently, Fola worked as a Senior Trust Advisor with the Royal Bank of Canada and currently works with Wellington-Altus Private Wealth as its Estates & Trusts Specialist.
Fola holds an LLB from Obafemi Awolowo University and an LLM from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She is a qualified Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, a licensed member of the Law Society of Ontario, an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries & Administrators (ICSA) UK and an INSEAD alumni. She is also a member of the Society for Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). Certified by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) as a Member, Trust Institute (MTI), Fola received the Institute’s Outstanding Achievement Award as an estates and trust expert.
